Although the surgical techniques in the treatment of rhegmatogen retinal detachment have improved remarkably in recent years, it is still debated which technique should be used for primarily. It is apparent that no single technique is superior for all detachments. The status of the lens, the complexity of the detachment and also the experience of the surgeon are important factors choosing the surgical approach. Pneumatic retinopexy should be used in selected cases because it is very cost-effi cent and effective procedure in selected cases and provides faster visual rehabilitation with less anatomical changes that are aassociated with other retinal reattachment procedures. Keywords : retinal detachment, pneumatic retinopexy
