Necrotizing Vasculitis

Retinal vasculitis is a clinicopathologic event which effects retinal vessels and characterized by inflamation and necrosis of the blood vessels. It results from nonspecific immunologic reaction of the arterioles and venules against various antigenic agents. Etiopathogenesis is not clear but can be assosiated with infections, neoplastic degenerative and systemic inflammatory diseases. Necrotizing vasculitis can be seen in systemic inflamatory diseases, in diseases caused by Human T-cell lymphotropic virus type-1 (HTLV-1) as masking form and in acute retinal necrosis caused by herpes simplex virus group.
