Anti-VEGF Therapy in Retinopathy of Prematurity
Güngör SOBACI
M.D. Proffessor, Gülhane Military Medical Academy Department of Ophthalmology Ankara/TURKEY Issues relating ablative treatment in retinopathy of prematurity or neonatal acquired blindness have been argued for years. As the physiopathology of retinopathy of prematurity is concerned, intravitreal anti-VEGF injections seems to have the potential to be used in alternative or adjunctive treatment. Though the evidence-based data is not edequate yet, encouraging results obtained in cases with retinopathy of prematurity, in whom ablative treatment was either inapplicable or failed, indicate that anti-VEGF treatment protocols combined with laser or alone, could be established in the near future. Keywords : Anti-VEGF, retinopathy of prematurity, treatment
