Optical Coherence Tomography
Figen BATIOĞLU
M.D. Professor, Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology, Ankara/TURKEY Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a high resolution, cross-sectional imaging technique that allows detailed assessment of retinal thickness and morphologic evaluation of the neurosensory retinal layers. OCT findings correlate well with other evaluation techniques
Recent improvements in OCT technology have led to widespread interest in the use of spectral domain OCT, which is faster and has higher resolution. Optical coherence tomography has been used widely in retinal vascular diseases. This article reviews the role of OCT in retinal vascular diseases.
Keywords : Diabetic macular edema, idiopathic juxtafoveal retinal telangiectasis, macular edema, optical coherence tomography, retinal vascular disease, retinal arterial macroaneurysm, retinal arterial occlusion
